“Why don’t you have some faith?” my wife asked. She had just informed me of a need involving one of our vehicles, and I panicked. It’s something I’ve been doing a lot this summer. We paid off a big debt we owed, and while we’ve never missed a meal, and we’ve stayed current on our bills, the amount of money in our checking account is lower than I would prefer. It was obvious that I was worried, and my wife correctly called me out on the situation. It’s one of the many things I love about her, to be honest. I should have had faith. Here I am, an employee of a Christian ministry where I write blogs encouraging men to do and have all kinds of things including faith. Even so, when something unforeseen happened, I freaked.
What about you? Are you the kind of Christian that talks a big game, but when the going gets tough you panic? It happens to all of us from time to time. It even happened to the Apostle Peter. Regardless, we need to learn from these situations and avoid making mistakes in the future. Why? Because skeptics and haters see that and think, “Ha! Where’s your God now?” Meanwhile, Satan is looking for anything and everything to use against us. Scripture says as much.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8 KJV).”
