While searching for Sunday school material, I came across an object lesson involving a Christmas tree ornament. The author used a hammer to break open the ornament to show students that it had an unfilled or hollowed-out space within. The teacher then went on to ask students whether they too were hollow inside.
This lesson was spot-on. Many people today are nice on the outside, but there’s nothing really there on the inside. Unfortunately, I’d say even some Christians fall into this category. I guess they’re all “lacking in real value, sincerity, or substance” inside, which is one definition of the word “hollow.”
How are you today? How is your faith? Are you sincere in all that you say and do? Only you and God know. Remember, He too knows what’s going on inside.
“..[F]or the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7 KJV)
